In 2018, Trina created and led a team to frame a $54M climate change action program for Alberta’s 352 municipalities, offering them education, technical expertise and funding to support amongst other things, the acquisition of electric fleet vehicles (Up to 241 new vehicles estimated to avoid over 500 ktCO2e in greenhouse gas emissions), energy efficiency retrofits, solar photo-voltaic systems (23 solar installations combined capacity of over 6.6 MW so far), community energy generation and support for municipalities to hire dedicated expert energy managers. This work will see up to 60 MW of renewable electricity capacity added to the grid and up to 1000 ktCO2e of lifetime reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
