Canada’s cleantech industry finally got its first national map thanks to this team. Led by Vicki, the four transformed Canada’s cleantech intelligence landscape, creating the first-ever national database and taxonomy of cleantech firms. Their bi-annual survey captures over 600 responses, representing 30% of pure-play cleantech companies, and provides critical insights into capital access, scaling needs, and market challenges. By launching interactive dashboards and public-facing reports, they have made complex data accessible to government policy makers, provinces, investors, and industry. The knowledge generated informs federal policy, provincial economic strategies, and international engagement. Their work should soon enable targeted engagement, strategic program design, and evidence-based decision-making, enabling a willing government to ensure Canadian cleantech firms are accurately characterized, supported, and positioned for growth.
Vicki’s leadership underpinned the effort. She secured funding, aligned multi-departmental collaboration, and championed the sector’s data-driven approach. Vicki guided the creation of the national cleantech company database and bi-annual survey, enabling high-quality insights from 600+ firms, representing 30% of the market. She also steered the Buy Clean Strategy, Clean Tech ITCs, and contributed to zero-emission vehicle, energy efficiency, and wildfire adaptation programs. By coordinating policy and technical expertise across NRCan, Finance, CRA, ISED, and other departments, and capturing previously fragmented data, she ensured actionable intelligence can shape federal programs, investment strategies, and clean growth policy with the potential of driving measurable sector advancement.
