The people who make a difference

MaRS Cleantech, part of the MaRS Discovery District, works closely with entrepreneurs and investors to build globally competitive companies that are addressing key challenges in energy, water, agri-tech, advanced materials and manufacturing, and creating solutions for smart cities. There are two MaRS Cleantech sub-teams: Jon and Jane lead the team that helps grow high-impact ventures and Ron and Ian lead the team that strives to remove complex technology adoption barriers in the energy sector. The entire team supports growing cleantech ventures by connecting them to partners, customers, investors, talent and capital – ventures that have created 1456 jobs and, in the past three years alone, generated $251M in revenue. Through collaboration with cross-industry stakeholders, the entire MaRS Cleantech team is fostering the adoption of technologies in Canada and leveraging those successes into international markets, and helping foster Canadian success stories proving a low carbon economy can be a highly prosperous economy.

The Clean50 Individual awards are selected from 16 diverse categories that transcend industries, academia, different levels of government, thought leaders and advocates, and are based on accomplishments delivered over the prior two years.
